Red Chuck Taylor Hi Tops for a guy?

I was wondering what people thought about guys wearing red chuck taylors. I am 18 and I was just worried that if I got them I would be like a middle school or high school girl just going with the trends. I mean I am just a normal person, not some indie hipster or anything, so would I be out of place wearing them to college and stuff?
